What We Do
Establish country profile
The country profile provides Village Corps with information relating to the history, people, government, economy, geography, communications, infrastructure, security and transnational issues of the country in question. This information helps us understand and assess the big picture before entering into a local village.
To see which countries Village Corps is currently working with please visit, Existing Village Profiles.
Locate a village and identify local leadership
Anyone is welcome to nominate a village from the 131 countries where Village Corps operates. Village Corps operates remotely. Therefore, it is not necessary to be within the village, or even within that country to nominate a village. If you would like to nominate a village please visit, Register a Village.
When a village is identified, Village Corps works with local leadership to determine a Village Corps Representative. The Village Corps Representative (VC Rep) is the point person for a specific village and is generally an individual living in or very near the village. Once appointed, the VC Rep works with relevant Village Corps staff and, through a local community engagement process, identifies and profiles the basic needs of a village based on the Central 7. After the village’s needs are prioritized, we post this information online as part of the village’s profile and begin creating and implementing the necessary, sustainable solutions.
Train remote development practitioners
Our Fellowship program unites some of the best minds in sustainable development. Through a highly selective application process, we train individuals to assume the role of Remote Development Practitioners (RDP).The RDPs manage village projects.

PROFILE AND ASSESS THE NEEDS OF EACH VILLAGE
RDPs collaborate with Villages to create a Village Profile that outlines the unique attributes of each community. This Village Profile will include physical maps, seasonal activity calendars, educational resources, healthcare facilities, population demographics, and agricultural activity (as well as other information that target populations choose to include).
The Village Profile will be consistently reviewed, revised, and updated, and will be an invaluable resource in tracking the progress of each individual community. Further, by allowing VC Reps and Target Villages to oversee this process, they will witness first-hand their progress as they move towards happier and healthier lives.
When the Village Profile is in place, RDPs will work with Target Villages to identify and prioritize their needs. This process will ensure that the efforts of Village Corps are aligned with the needs and wants of each Target Village, and will give target populations ownership in the development process.
Create and implement village-wide solutions
The RDP works with the VC Rep to create a Goal Timeline, based on the prioritized needs identified by each Target Village. This will serve the dual purpose of keeping villages on course, and also allowing them to track and quantify their progress.
Through regular communication with the VC Rep, the RDP ensures that each project is completed in a timely, effective and sustainable manner. The RDP also chronicles the entire process from beginning to end, making sure to note every detail so we can learn as much as we can on each project to help improve our processes.
Ongoing monitoring of village
Success will be measured on each village’s terms, with an early emphasis placed on changing the way in which poor populations view their circumstances. By involving villagers in each step of the process, Village Corps ensures that target populations will understand that they are a vital part of any development effort. This will empower Target Village Populations to address their own needs, and help to break the cycle of dependence.
Once the near-term objectives have been implemented, the VC Rep and the RDP work to help the village “travel down the path to sustainability.”
Village Corps and the VC Rep track the progress of the village in real time. This data is then stored in Aedi Technology’s software, which extrapolates information and helps Village Corps determine the most effective and efficient way to address the prioritized needs of a village. One of the most important aspects of this software is that the more data and knowledge it receives, the smarter is gets, allowing Village Corps projects and sponsors to reap the benefits of fast and intelligent technology.
A Village Corps village is never left on its own even after the villagers’ needs are met. The technology will help to track the status of the village through data gathering and analysis.
