Values/Beliefs

We adhere to a set of simple principles that guide and shape the Village Corps system for positive results -- understanding elements of village life are interconnected and interdependent--so should be the solutions implemented to help improve life.

We believe that the only way to generate sustainable prosperity is to provide individuals with the tools necessary to pull themselves out of poverty.

We believe sustainability is scientifically defined as a set of system conditions that should not be broken. Specifically, in a sustainable society, nature is not subject to systematically increasing:

...concentrations of substances extracted from the earth's crust,

...concentrations of substances produced by society,

...degradation by physical means,

...and, in that society, people are not subject to conditions that systematically undermine their capacity to meet their needs.

We believe reaching an understanding of what is a “whole system” will enable stakeholders to understand how to meet their basic human needs in a coordinated manner.

We believe in a process rooted in dialogue and understanding that differences can be met via consensus on a future vision and a strategy to arrive at holistic, regenerative answers rather than short-term and unsound fixes that risk creating negative unintended consequences.

We believe it is possible to create regenerative prosperity by creating space for co-learning, awareness, and teaching the skills necessary to enable villagers to pull themselves out of poverty.
